Performance Requirements
For Batavia band and choir students to participate in solo and ensemble the following checklist is in effect:
- High school students have their piece selected by the last day of October.
- Middle school students have their piece selected by the last day of January.
- PRIVATE LESSONS are not required but STRONGLY recommended.
- You must be able to play completely through your piece by the time of registration.
- You must pay the fee at the time of registration.
- You must work with a director during school hours or make arrangements to stay after school to prepare.
We will have a recital concert in the band room prior to solo and ensemble. It is a small concert featuring all of the students attending OMEA solo and Ensemble. It is a required event. It is your opportunity to perform with your accompanist (if you are playing a solo) and in front of a small audience prior to adjudication.
